Day 31

Today was the last day and presentations were done. I was the last to present and for the most part i believe i did a good job. I appreciate how much Joe talked about my determination to the program and my drive to accomplish. After the presentations i showed my mum the lab and introduced her to my advisors, at least my ex-advisors. I'm gonna miss RIT but i'll be coming back when i apply to the gaming major, and i have much to do to prepare. Mark my words, i will get into RIT and i will pursue my passion. See you in a years time Joe.

Day 30

The last regular day of work. Today i finally think i perfected my presentation, at least i should have. All i have left to do is practice my verbal speaking, and have the suave confidence of a 1940's salesman. Final day bring it on.

Day 29

Today we had our presentation practice and i can say without a doubt i was the least prepared for the 10 minute limit. After nearly bombing the pre-presentation i learned much watching the others and then took the rest of the day to implement what i had learned to my presentation. After cutting back on the content and implementing hidden notes into the presentation to have a backup for vocal information, i presented again later that day improving much more than before but still 3 minutes over the 10 minute limit. I know exactly what i should do and will implement it, and send it to Joe tomorrow before the day is through. I do have to focus on my verbal presentation skills more, i find that once i hit a block of explaining the information the quality of the rest of the presentation is reduced.

Day 28

Today was a solid day. The majority of the day was finalizing my Presentation for tomorrow. And the rest of the day was getting the reinforcement code to launch via command line, and editing the code in visual studio. The internship is ending soon and all loose ties are being tied up. I'm beginning to think about all the things i must do in the coming months to prepare for my application to RIT this coming fall. I've much to do and after the internship ends, i will have no time to hesitate in my preparations to ensure i am not only accepted, but am received with priority or at least regard.

Day 27

The mass allotment of time was allocated towards further work on my final presentation. I also worked on an updated abstract which better represents what will be talked about on the day of presentation. The rest of the day was dedicated towards the reinforcement code toy problems.

Updated Abstract

Joe, i suggest using this new abstract and the title as it is more representative of the final presentation. Modelling Human Hand-eye Coordination Using Machine Learning Titus Mickley Perform laboratory Advisors: Kamran Binaee, Rakshit Kothari, Gabriel J. Diaz We use our   visual system  to collect information of an environment, and perform an  action such as catching an object.  Currently machines do not have the same capabilities as humans when it comes to analyzing an environment and performing inside the environment  efficiently .  By recording participants head, hand, and eye position/orientation in a controlled virtual environment as the subjects repeatedly attempt to catch a  virtual  ball  with a real  paddle. A simulation of the virtual environment was created to convey the subjects data visually. A basic Reinforcement Learning algorithm is then created, allowing an agent to learn autonomously in a 3D ecosystem. The results of the study could assist in integrating

Day 26

Today has been a immensely productive day. I have been working on my Presentation and after getting it to a semi-presentable state i showed everyone at the weekly meeting to get as much critique as i can. I got a lot of positive critique and overall most of the senior staff were impressed with what i had currently shown and where i said i would take the presentation. I will continue to work on my presentation until every aspect is deemed perfect by my standards and the standards of those around me.

Day 25

Today has been a very slow day. The majority of the day before Kamran arrived i had little to do as my structure draft had not been sent back to me with a review by either Kamran or Rakshit. In the time i had i attempted to locate and edit video evidence to support my statements in my presentation. I had luck finding the videos but editing them was another problem as i could not find any free editing software that could actually crop and cut a video. Unfortunately i had to call in a favour from Aditi as her Mac comes with built in editing software. She has edited some videos for me but i hope i can get Kamran to teach me a better method so that i don't need to bother Aditi's work. Kamran finally arrived and we went over my draft, with him giving me some advice on how to refine it. The rest of the day was allotted to my draft.

Day 24

Today was a very productive day. In the morning until lunch i worked solely on refining my presentation into a draft i could send to Kamran and Rakshit. After lunch the rest of the day was allotted to another session of mathematics with Rakshit in which i learned more about signal based mathematics and actually had a mentor competent enough to explain it to me in a way that it didn't take me an entire term to understand. After that Rakshit gave Aditi and me another mini-assignment of distorting the pitch of a sound file. I've found a royalty free sound file and plan to edit it tomorrow, depending how it goes i'll use it someway in my project.

Day 23

Lo and behold another windows update that will completely destroy my ability to blog as the update took 3 hours and at that point my CPU was hot enough to cook an egg and it was already an hour past my bedtime. As i recall, the events of yesterday were mainly based around spending until noon analyzing the last remnants of eye tracking data, detecting any common tends or patterns of motion, which we will then show at the weekly meeting on Thursday with evidence to back up our claims. After lunch i "borrowed" a lamp, curtain, and PCP piping to attempt to recreate the effect of the virtual experiment as i created a crude cover to block my participants line of site temporarily as i tossed a ball. If the data is sufficient i will attempt to compare the eye movements of both virtual and real tracking of a ball, and present my findings in my final presentation, as well as show the inefficiencies of the real experiment, enforcing my claim that physics based experiments performed usin

Day 22

The day has been very quiet as Aditi left the lab early at 12:30 and no one has been in the lab besides me today. I've primarily been working on my structure, but also did some work defining eye patterns with Aditi before she left. At 10:00 i left to go to the symposium, i could not find the specific poster i was looking for no matter where i looked but i did look at many others. The VR integration of a Mac was particularly interesting and held marketable concepts. I was only able to talk to one of the presenters as the others did not speak English very well, although i was able to understand some of the words they said from the very little Chinese i know. They began whispering to each other when i approached and i could hear the word "talk" which explains why soon after the presenter approached me. The rest of the day will be dedicated to improving my structure and possibly collecting some data from Kamran to support a comparison for my final presentation, but i will lea

Day 21

The entire day was comprised of data labelling for Rakshit. I allotted the entire day to labelling so that i can allot all of tomorrow to work with Kamran and hammer out a lot of work before the weekend. Their was one moment of reprieve today during the floor meeting where Jeremy did a mock presentation for his symposium tomorrow. This gave Kamran the idea that Aditi and i could also do a mock presentation in front of both a semi-lay audience comprising of brilliant minds who can assure our presentations be perfect for the final day.

Day 20

Today was a slow day to start out as i repeatedly attempted to draw a vector from the cycEyeNode to the ball in the simulation using viz.primitve. Unironically i finally figured out how to do it on the bus home. The later stages of the day were all spent towards collecting more data on Henry and Nate, both of which provided very interesting data from a broad look at it, as by the time i could zip the files, transport them via Gdrive, and unzip them, it was 20 minutes to leaving time. Overall a good day, and i'm starting to feel my internal alarm clock going off telling me that the internship is ending soon and i need to tie up all loose strings.

Day 19

Image
Today has been another routine day so far with more paper analysis, which is finally about to end as i am on the last paper. The paper i finished today detailed two methods of transporting an object via a multi-robotic system in which certain objectives are assigned to each robot, a very interesting paper with possible future applications to the transport of an object via interconnected nano-bots similar to what is seen in some Sci-Fy movies. The last paper is an unpublished currently under review version of the very project i'm currently working on, so when i finally analyze all of it i should be able to create a solid and confident Abstract, Structure, and Presentation. Problem is that i have absolutely no clue what some of the things the paper is taking about as the terms are not well defined in any literature. Kamran has already agreed to sit down with me and explain every single missing piece of information so that i can understand and connect everything. I have also found som
